MEET OUR PRESENTERS
Dave Schroeder
Dave Schroeder is principal at Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He attended Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota for his undergraduate degree, and received his Master’s degree in Education from Central Michigan University. He has served as principal in four different schools over the course of his 29 years in education, teaching every grade level from third all the way up to a Senior Communications class. His current educational passion is teaching a Freshman Old Testament History class. His educational journey has taken him from schools in Reno, Nevada to San Diego, California to Waukesha, Wisconsin, and now to WLA in Fond du Lac. In addition to teaching, Mr. Schroeder also enjoys mentoring beginning principals, loves the great Wisconsin outdoors, and cheers on the Packers and Red Wings. He enjoys the Fond du Lac community with the love of his life, Kate, a third and fourth grade teacher at Martin Luther in Oshkosh. He is a proud father to Seth and his wife Natalie, Jordyn and her husband Brodie, and Jonathan; an even prouder Papa to Lukas, Raelyn, and Caroline.
Naomi Schmidt
Naomi Schmidt is an author, Bible study teacher and encourager. She has published several Bible study books: “Ruth,” “Philippians,” and “In God’s Orchard.” Most recently she has written a curriculum, “Teach Women to Teach the Word” which is available as a free download with video lessons at WELS Congregational Services. Many of her devotions, prayers, and Advent by Candlelight services are on wels.net/women. She serves on the WELS Women’s Ministry Executive Team and assists with WELS Women Writers. She enjoys meeting women and lingering over coffee with an open Bible. Naomi and her retired husband have been married over 40 years and enjoy 8 grandchildren which are a constant reminder of God’s goodness!
Kristi Meyer
Kristi Meyer has had the privilege of serving on the WELS Women’s Ministry Executive Team since January 2020. Her role with Women’s Ministry is somewhat fluid: she oversees the budget, serves as secretary, assists the other Executive Team members in whatever ways she can, and spearheads special projects here and there. One of those special projects, Reflections on Our Unique Callings, debuted in Summer 2021, bringing together her work with Women’s Ministry and her current academic interests for the Master of Arts in Theological Studies program through Martin Luther College.
Kristi has served as a mathematics professor at Wisconsin Lutheran College since July 2006 and is incredibly blessed to be able to work with her students in a confessional Lutheran environment. She is also the part-time Communications Coordinator for her home church, St. John’s Lutheran in Wauwatosa, WI – a job that lets her exercise the parts of her brain not connected to math and science. When she’s not working, studying, or writing, she enjoys running and biking, camping, playing handbells, and spending time with family and friends.
His Way Band
His Way is a (WELS) Jesus-First Christian music group from Milwaukee, WI. We specialize in original music, modern versions of hymns and other Christian songs heard on the radio. They have been playing music together since 2012. Their mission is the Great Commission. Bring friends and guests to hear God’s Word in music! They have two albums focused on specific verses, chapters and sections right from the Bible. We are spreading God’s word and Jesus’ love through their blessed talents.
We plan to travel together on Saturday March 5 to participate for the full day.
All expense for Saturday will be paid by the church. We hope you can join us.
If you wish to extend your retreat to the Friday and Sunday agenda too please speak with Pastor Hagen and the church will help arrange local hotel accommodations. Our women’s ministry has funds available and can support expenses for the full event as needed. If requesting hotel accommodations we ask that at least one participant be over age 18.
Donations to our Zion & St. John’s Women’s Ministry fund will be accepted but are not required to attend this event.
